SUMMARY:World Ozone Day - 2025 Celebrated
DESCRIPTION:A seminar to celebrate World Ozone Day-2025 was organized by National Ozone Unit (NOU) of the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC)\, Government of Pakistan in collaboration with BUITEMS\, Quetta. \n\n\n\nUnder the dynamic leadership & management of Dr. Saleem Janjua\, Chief of the National Ozone Unit (NOU)\, the Government is performing various key activities at the national and international levels in the domain of ozone layer protection\, climate change\, and other related areas. \n\n\n\nThe event was organized on 23rd Sep 2025 in BUITEMS\, Quetta. The event consisted of remarks from the distinguished guests\, technical presentations\, and interactive activities performed by youth. \n\n\n\nMr. Ahsan Achakzai\, Registrar\, BUITEMS appreciated the efforts of Ministry of Climate Change in organizing the awareness raising activities in  Quetta on an important topic of ozone protection. \n\n\n\nDr. Saleem Janjua\, Chief of the National Ozone Unit (NOU) of Pakistan\, Islamabad delivered the Guest of Honor address and explained the overall rationale for arranging this event related to World Ozone Day-2025 and also deliberated on the details for Montreal Protocol. He emphasized that academia has an integral role in phasing out of Ozone Depleting Substances and achieving targets set under the international commitments by carrying out policy-oriented research and piloting innovative projects. With this intent\, National Ozone Unit has carried out a series of awareness raising campaigns and is proactive in establishing and maintaining partnerships with academic institutions so that coherent efforts are made and international commitments are met. \n\n\n\nThereafter\, Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez\, Vice Chancellor\, BUITEMS also delivered the Guest of Honor Adress from the University side. He appreciated the theme of event and Ministry of Climate Change for organizing the seminar on a topic that is needed for environmental sustainability and is critical to ensure human survival on planet Earth. \n\n\n\nThe session proceeded with speeches and presentations and in-depth technical discussions related to ODS\, Kigali Amendment and ozone layer protection. \n\n\n\nThis was followed by a quiz competition\, poster competition\, speech competition and sports competition amongst students and winners were selected. \n\n\n\nStakeholders unanimously acknowledged the Montreal Protocol as a global environmental success story and called for continued collaboration among government\, academia\, national and international partners to sustain progress on ozone protection and climate action. The seminar concluded with a collective pledge to strengthen national and international efforts — taking science forward into global actions\, for the sake of future generations.

SUMMARY:World Ozone Day - 2024 Celebrated
DESCRIPTION:National Ozone Unit (NOU)\, Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC) celebrated the World Ozone Day 2024 on the theme of “Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action”. In this regard\, an awareness raising event was organized by the MoCC&EC\, NOU in Islamabad to celebrate the World Ozone Day and Pakistan’s achievements under the Montreal Protocol. The event was attended by more than 50 representatives from public and private sector\, including the representatives of industries\, industrial associations\, R&D institutions\, civil society\, academia and others. \n\n\n\nHonourable Madam Romina Khurshid Alam\, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Respected Ms. Aisha Humera Chaudhary\, Federal Secretary & Mr. Rana Ahmed Atteeq Anwar\, Parliamentary Secretary\, Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination were also present during the event. The experts\, academia\, and social sector representatives discussed emerging issues of the ozone layer protection\, like science of ozone\, destruction of ozone layer\, energy efficiency linkage with ozone layer\, green building codes\, new refrigerants\, and flammability issues.

SUMMARY:World Ozone Day - 2023 Celebrated
DESCRIPTION:National Ozone Unit (NOU)\, Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC) undertook a national level “ozone layer protection” campaign to enhance awareness of academia for supporting phase-out of HCFC in Pakistan. NOU support to various academic institutions of Pakistan comprised of technical and research-oriented skills for protecting ozone layer and was extended to 353 participants comprising of professors (21M\, 20F)\, relevant government officials (101M\, 24F)\, and researchers/students (53M\, 134F).  \n\n\n\nNOU also awarded 05 industries (M/s Dawlance Pvt Ltd-Karachi\, M/s Pakistan Insulation-Karachi\, M/s Koldkraft Refrigeration-Lahore\, M/s Foster Refrigeration-Lahore and M/s Symbol Industries-Lahore) with Ozone and Climate-Friendly Technology Awards for phasing out of 20.44 ODP tons (220.31 MT) of HCFCs from Pakistan during the years 2022-2023.
